ARTIST STATEMENT 

Hi, my name is Viviane Fonseca. I’m from Brazil and I always wanted to come to America to study film. However while studying film I have developed an enormous interest in photography as well. I love traveling and I have created a blog with a close friend in which we share pictures and traveling experiences. Lately we have started to create  some videos as well which is my main passion.

Every since I was little I loved movies. My dad used to watch a lot of movies in English with subtitles, and I remember thinking how annoying that was. Some times I would miss the dialogue for not reading fast enough. So my first step towards my goal was to learn English, after that to be accepted in a college in the USA. When it all became true it was hard to believe that my dream became reality. I love studying movies, camera movement, structure, shooting techniques, and so forth. My favorite thing is to spend time watching a good movie. My favorite directors are: Spielberg, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, Hitchcock among others. While studying film, I have discovered the importance of photography, framing , lighting, and I became really interested in learning more about it. In a production, what interests me the most is the shooting process. Positioning the camera, adjusting lighting and camera angle. I also like the editing process, I have some experience with it because of the short clips I have made for my personal blog. I am familiar with both final cut pro 7 and 10, I am also a little bit familiar with Photoshop as well as illustrator, but I still have a lot to learn in these two programs.

Anyways, this is a short summary of my interests, and I am really excited to expand my knowledge in media and film this semester.
